Meeting with an Automotive Industry Representative at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Transport
On 19 February 2026, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Transport at the Technical University of Moldova hosted a meeting with Mr. Mihai Ionașcu, a representative of the automotive industry based in the United Kingdom.
Mr. Ionașcu currently holds the position of Chief Engineer at SAF-Holland, where he is responsible for systems engineering, functional safety, and cybersecurity related to advanced commercial vehicle technologies. His areas of professional expertise include next-generation vehicle platforms, digital twins, and predictive maintenance, with a strong focus on ensuring safety, security, and reliability throughout the entire product lifecycle.
The visit had a dual objective. First, it aimed to provide students with insights into applied mechanical engineering in an industrial context. Second, it sought to encourage students to further develop both their technical and soft skills in order to better prepare for the competitive job market.
Additionally, students were informed about career opportunities in the automotive sector and the importance of English as the primary language of communication for engineers worldwide.
